Blogpost #1: We Support the Current Chain
Introducing our blogroll & why we're using chainlink.

Hello gray friends, this post officially kicks off the NPC blogroll here on npc.com. •⎳•

This is a place for learning all about Non-Playable Coin, what we're building, and the NPC community. To start things off, we're highlighting a major technical milestone for NPC: our recent integration with Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This integration marks an important step in our multi-chain journey and the inevitable NPC takeover.

By adopting CCIP, NPC has been bridged to Arbitrum—and many more chains are coming, all powered by Chainlink.

What's the CCIP all about?

Chainlink is a leading cryptocurrency platform that connects blockchains to real-world data, off-chain systems, and other networks. It's widely known for providing secure and reliable oracle services to hundreds of Web3 projects. They're also meme legends in the cryptocurrency space: If you've been in the cryptocurrency space for a long time, you definitely know about the LINK marines. Chainlink is the bedrock of DeFi and so many decentralized applications that this industry relies on.

One of Chainlink's newest innovations is CCIP, or the "Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol." This allows users to move assets and data securely and efficiently between networks. CCIP is battle-tested and one of the safest cross-chain standards out there, securing billions of dollars in assets across many different networks. It's designed to be a universal protocol for cross-chain communication, similar to how TCP/IP serves as the foundation of the internet.

Every NPC deserves to be multi-chain

Since NPC is a memecoin for every human on Earth, we want it to be everywhere and on every network. That means making it as easy as possible to trade and bridge, so you don't need to jump through complicated hoops to move your tokens from one chain to another. That's where Chainlink's CCIP comes in.

Chainlink CCIP provides a secure and standardized method for cross-chain token transfers. Starting with Arbitrum, this means that NPC tokens can be moved between Ethereum and Arbitrum with strong security guarantees and minimal user friction.

To bridge tokens, simply use Chainlink's official bridge at app.transporter.io.

Here's how it works in practice:

  • On Ethereum: NPC tokens are locked when a user initiates a transfer to Arbitrum.
  • On Arbitrum: Corresponding tokens are minted and delivered to the recipient.
  • Returning to Ethereum: Tokens on Arbitrum are burned, and the original tokens are unlocked on Ethereum.

This mechanism is supported by Chainlink's decentralized infrastructure, and enhanced with its Risk Management Network that continuously monitors and validates the behavior of CCIP.

More chains are coming

Leveraging Chainlink and its CCIP to bridge to Arbitrum is just the start. Chainlink supports dozens of other networks and we wish to see NPC on as many active networks as possible.

Right now, NPC is trading on Solana, Base, and BNB Chain, which were all bridged through Wormhole. Arbitrum is the first chain that is supported by Chainlink, and there are many more to come. Through Chainlink, Non-Playable Coin (NPC) will be adding more chains to its roster and ensure NPC is for every human on Earth.

NPC was born from a meme everyone on the internet knows, but it's also novel tech behind it that sets it apart. Our future blog posts will feature in-depth looks at our achievements — from being the first memecoin-NFT hybrid to building a customization dApp that has been copied by many other memecoins.

Stay tuned for much more, and keep supporting the current coin.
